Summary[]

Plot[]

Since you have already reached superstar status twice, you and Reda decide to create your own board company. This means there are no sponsors whatsoever, including shoe and wheel. After completing the first two missions, you come across Shingo, who is considering film school. This interests Reda, since you need a filmer. After a tour of PCU, the basic mission structure is up to you. After the first mission of each category, most missions in that category are opened. The goal of the career mode is to reach 1,000,000 board sales through completing challenges and owning spots. Every time you reach certain milestones of board sales, a new team member is added, totalling to four team members, not including you.

Additional features are unlocked through board sales. You can also earn extra board sales through playing online.

Gameplay[]

Two new difficulty levels have been added along with the normal setting of classic Skate gameplay. Easy Mode allow all tricks to flip faster and higher, more attraction to ledges & rails (about a 90.1% pull), and pushes generate more speed. Hardcore Mode requires tricks to be performed precisely, use the "flick-it" system too slow and you will under rotate tricks, also flip-tricks are harder to do when flipping onto ledges. Grinds are also much harder as there isn't as much "magnetism" onto ledges and rails (about a 10% pull). It takes three pushes to get to full speed on Easy and Normal, while Hardcore requires five. Hardcore Mode is for a more sim-oriented gamer-base.

skate.Park is also a feature in Skate 3 that allows the player to build skate parks similar to the stage builder in the Tony Hawk games and the "Create a Spot" functionality in Skate It. According to the Skate website, players can build a variety of set-ups such as mega ramps and plazas. The new skate.Create Pack expands on this feature with 2 new areas and over 30 pieces.

EA introduced three new game modes to play online: "1-Up", "Domination", and "Own The Lot". In "1-Up", players have a given number of seconds to get a point total as a team which the other team then has to beat, or "1-Up". In "Domination", teams compete against each other to try to own as many spots that they can in a time limit. In "Own The Lot" there are six to twelve things to do (e.g.; grind a ledge, flip-trick off a ramp) in a certain area that need to be completed by your team first to win.

The game takes place in the fictional city of Port Carverton, which embraces skateboarding, unlike the "skateboarding is a crime" mentality that permeated the second game's New San Vanelona. Several notable skateboarding pros appear throughout. It is also a much more colourful and happier place than Skate 2's desaturated, grainy streets, although the skating still provides the overall feel given off by the first & second games.
